Emergency services were called to a home on Mount Sugarloaf Drive, Glen Alpine, shortly before 3:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, following reports of a home invasion. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound inside the property.
Despite the emergency response, the man died at the scene. NSW Police have established a crime scene and launched a homicide investigation.

The victim is believed to be in his 20s. Police initially said he had not yet been formally identified, while later media reports identified him as Marco Tapia.
