The North Halton girls hockey community is mourning the sudden passing of Nick Muffitt, a beloved coach, mentor, father and longtime member of the Twisters family.
The North Halton Girls Hockey Association announced Nick’s death in an “In Loving Memory” tribute published August 31, describing the loss as sudden and expressing deep sorrow for a man who had devoted more than six years to the association.
During those years, Nick became much more than a coach standing behind the bench. He contributed to both House League and Rep hockey and regularly took on coaching responsibilities with multiple teams. He served as both a parent coach and a non-parent coach, giving his time to athletes throughout the organization.
For players and their families, his presence became part of the fabric of the North Halton hockey community.
Remembering Nick Muffitt
Nick’s coaching philosophy went beyond winning games. Those who knew his work remember a coach committed to helping young athletes develop confidence, perseverance, accountability, teamwork, respect and compassion.
